CS Magoha: Schools are a Politics-free Zone
The Cabinet Secretary for Education Prof George Magoha has told politicians that they will not be allowed to meddle in the management of schools across the country.
CS Magoha cited the ongoing construction of Junior Secondary Schools (JSS) as an example of where politicians will not be allowed to interfere.
Magoha implored school boards of management to look for alternative contractors if those who are appointed have political strings attached to them.
The CS was at Otieno Oyoo High School in Kisumu County where he oversaw the groundbreaking ceremony of JSS classrooms.
The CS also appreciated private schools for their efforts which have complimented the work done by their public school counterparts, especially in the construction of the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC) classrooms.
He also urged them to erect model junior schools because the government has a very short time to implement the CBC.
According to Magoha, private schools are expected to construct 4,000 classrooms and the 10,000 classrooms that are required for the CBC will have been completed by next month (August).
