Coast MP Allocates Kes. 45 Million for Bursaries
Matuga National Government Constituency Development Fund (NG-CDF) has allocated bursaries worth Kes. 45 Million to help needy but bright secondary school students in the area continue with their education.
Speaking to members of the media after attending Matuga Girls’ Education Day recently, the Matuga MP Hon. Kassimu Tandaza said that Kes. 15 million had been disbursed already.
The lawmakers said that the Constituency NG-CDF fund had prioritized education saying that there will be no single bright secondary school student who will stay at home due to lacking school fees.
However, the MP regretted that many parents had not applied for bursaries and asked them to do so soon.
He then conducted an impromptu funds drive meant for the school’s development projects where Kes. 51,000 was raised.
The MP also donated Kes. 3 Million for the purchase of a new bus for the school.
He also called on stakeholders of education in the constituency to cooperate with him to improve the standards of education in the region.
Recently, Kisii County Governor Hon Simba Arati praised Cabinet Secretary for Education Ezekiel Machogu for his efforts to improve the education sector in the country and promised that he would support him to ensure that quality education is accessible to most in the region.
Governor Simba Arati was speaking at Bomachoge Chache Constituency where he called on residents to put their political differences aside and unite for the purpose of achieving development in education.
In addition, Governor Arati pledged to work together with President Ruto’s Kenya Kwanza administration quoting a common proverb “one finger alone cannot break a louse’.
“I was elected to power through Raila Odinga’s Azimio La Kenya political function but this cannot deter me from working with the government of the day that has the meat and the knife,” he said.
Arati urged residents to turn up in large numbers to welcome President William Samoei Ruto with the Head of State’s visit to Kisii County scheduled towards the end of the month.
He said that his administration through Elimu with Simba Arati has allocated Kes. 25 million to support students from poor homes to join form one this year.
“This seed money was donated from my family account and other close friends like Mr Nyabicha from this region,” he said.
Mr Nyabicha comes from the Bomachoge Chache constituency and is Simba Arati’s personal assistant.
The governor revealed that his office has 110 opportunities for more students who achieved 350 marks and above to benefit from the free scholarship.
“Go to every village and announce this message to all parents because I want Kisii County to shine and be in the lead in education excellence and leave a legacy when my tenure comes to an end,” added Arati.
Arati was in the company of his wife Kwamboka and many other leaders and he implored other leaders to support education development because it boosts unity and development.
