Embu Governor Promises to Equip TVETS and ECDE Centers
Embu Governor Cicily Mbarire has promised to provide the required infrastructure in Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) centres in the county.
Speaking after being sworn in, Governor Mbarire said that most TVETs do not have adequate equipment to ensure that the youth are equipped with skills and knowledge so that they can become self-sufficient.
“TVETs in this county are underfunded hence the youth do not have the chance to get the necessary training for the job market,” said Mbarire.
Mbarire promised that she will improve the status of Early Childhood Development and Education (ECDE) centres because they are under the management of the county.
Mbaire said that she will staff both TVETs and ECDEs since the institutions have been facing challenges with staffing.
“We are aiming at a teacher-student ratio of 1 to 30 because the ECDE responsibility is for the county government so that we can deliver the most basic early childhood development to our children,” said Mbarire.
The Governor also said that she will ensure that the county bursaries for needy students are distributed fairly to needy children so that they can benefit.
