Waiguru allayed fears over her promise being doubted. she had promised to employ ECDE teachers on permanent and pensionable terms.
“There had been murmurs and threats from some people during the campaigns but I told them that I do not say something I do not mean. I have now fulfilled my promise to the teachers,” said Governor Waiguru.
According to Ms Waiguru, the new scheme of service will be effected immediately.
She said that the 410 teachers will receive a substantial pay rise in the new terms of payment.
Waiguru revealed that the county government will allocate Kshs. 103 million for payment of salaries with the County Government also paying for the retirement of the teachers’ benefits through the County’s Pension Fund.
According to her, the move will empower teachers and facilitate their personal growth but will also motivate them to offer the best services to about 15,000 learners in the county.
