Broken Learner’s Arm Leads to Teacher’s Arrest
A teacher from St. Patricks Kisukioni Boys Secondary School located in Matungulu Sub-County within Machakos County has been arrested after assaulting a student’s up to the point of breaking the learner’s arm.
Mercy Muli’s the mother to the student revealed that the teacher called Rogers Jakaiti was assaulted while in the school storeroom.
Mercy also revealed that her son is currently in Form Three and was on Saturday night helping out another Form one newbie who was trying to identify another student who had allegedly stolen his bread.
The following day, the teacher realized that the boy had been causing a fracas in the dormitories when he decided to assault him.
The boy then took French leave and was helped by a local to call his parents via mobile phone. Mercy also revealed that the school did not take the boy to the hospital to undergo treatment following the incident.
“His hand is broken and he has marks on his body. The school did not inform me concerning the incident when it happened. I was informed by a local who called me and informed me that my son’s had been broken.”
I came to the school and they agreed to take the boy back but did not take my son to hospital. I took my son to hospital…the administration did not treat us well when we tried to enquire why he had been beaten like a thief,” said the boy’s mother, Mercy Muli.
The parent is worried about her son’s security within the school given the way the school’s management handled the issue.
“While the school will cover any court fees for the teacher but for my son I am worried how my son was treated in the coming days,” complained Mercy.
The teacher is currently being held at Tala Police Station while waiting to be arraigned in court on Wednesday.
