School Bus Conductor Allegedly Defiles 5-Year-Old Pupil, Gets Arrested
Police have nabbed a school bus conductor in Mombasa for allegedly defiling a five-year-old pupil on her way home.
It is alleged that the conductor defiled the pupil on the 18th of May before dropping her off at her home that is located in the village of Kiembeni.
The parents of the pupil claim that the conductor committed the crime when the girl was the only one remaining in the bus on the way to the pupil’s home.
“We prepared her and she went to school in the morning. When she returned our house help received her as usual. However, the house help realized that she was walking awkwardly,” said the father to the pupil.
The incident was then reported to the police of Kiembeni Station after getting confirmation from the hospital that their daughter had indeed been defiled.
The suspect is being held at Kiembeni police station while waiting to be arraigned in court.
The girl’s daughter revealed that she attended Mayjoy Primary School for the last three years.
What the school administration said
The school’s administration dismissed the allegations referring to them as being unfortunate.
The head of the school said that as the administrator of the school, he allowed his staff to record statements of the events related to the day of the incident.
“Let the law take its course. The bus left the school with 28 children and six female teachers,” the school head, Mr. Ndirangu said.
He added that he still wonders how the event happened since there were some teachers who were still inside the bus.
“I do not think that such an incident could have happened as the girl was not the only one left on the bus. There were more pupils and teachers who had not been dropped off,” added the school headteacher.
“This is a young girl. She has now been put under the exposure prophylaxis treatment and counseling,” he said.
He also advised parents to examine their children every time they come back from school.
