How to Register Your Company to NHIF Online

NHIF provides medical insurance cover to registered members and their declared dependents (spouse and children). To be a member of NHIF one needs to attain the age of 18 years and years and earn an income of more than KES 1000 every month.

NHIF registers all eligible members from both the informal and formal sectors.

In the formal sector, one only needs to be a member and then pay the Kshs. 1000 monthly installments. For those in the informal sector and retirees, membership is open and voluntary.

Company Registration procedure:

First, let’s start with what is required to register as an employer on NHIF online:

Certificate of registration
PIN certificate

STEPS 1: FILLING in EMPLOYEES/ NHIF FORM 33.

Download the employee or NHIF form 33 from their website.

STEP 2: Fill in the details

Fill in the details as required in the downloaded form. This will include the following details.

Company PIN
Details of the employer; directors/shareholders
Certificate/ registration number of company
The registered address of the company

STEP 3: SUBMIT THE DOCUMENT AT NHIF OFFICES

Visit a nearby NHIF office and then submit the form from step 2 and accompany it with the following.

Company’s pin certificate
Certificate of registration

STEP 4: COMPLIANCE CHECK

NHIF will then do a compliance check and then the report will be filled in the form submitted.

Inspection is usually done within around two days of upon submission although it should be noted that this is not a fixed timeline it can be longer or shorter sometimes.

STEP 5: RECEIVING NHIF CODE

When approval has been done, the company director will be given a code for the company (account number) and then they will be able to remit deductions.
