CS Magoha Warns Teachers On Tuition During Corona Break

Kenya’s Cabinet Secretary of Education Professor George Magoha has sent a stern warning against teachers or anyone assembling learners for any form of tuition during this period of closure meant to fight the spread of Corona Virus (Covid19).

In a statement through the Ministry of Education twitter handle, the Cabinet Secretary discouraged individuals assembling learners in the name of tuition.

The CS categorically stated that the ongoing  school break issued by President Uhuru Kenyatta on Sunday the 15th March 2020, was mearnt to help curb the spread of Covid-19 Corona Virus.

President’s Directive to Schools

The president ordered for the closure of all education institutions in the country, which started with the day primary and secondary school learners who were instructed not to report on Monday.

The boarding schools were given untill Wednesday to ensure that all learners get to their homes.

To show how serious the President’s orders were, the Ministry instructed school principals to use the school buses to facilitate student transportation to their destinations.

Universities,  Colleges, and other tertiary institutions were given upto Friday to ensure the institution gates are closed.

Prof Magoha asked parents to ensure their children remain at their homes. This is to safeguard them, and also help to contain the spread of the deadly virus.

Kenya Records a total of 7 CoronaVirus Cases

As of writing this post, Kenya had officially confirmed 7 cases of Covid19 viral infection. 

The Ministry of Health has advised the public to maintain high levels of hygiene, more especially washing of hands with soap and flowing water.

Other than hygiene, Kenyans should also avoid congested, or crowdy places to reduce person-to-person infections through close contact.
