Here Are the Evidences Intern Teachers Will Be Required To Submit On the Day of Interview

Recently Teachers Service Commission (TSC) announced employment vacancies in secondary and primary schools across the country and providing the requirements for employment.

Candidates have now been encouraged to make their applications online as most of the services of the Commission are entirely online. The deadline for the application has been set for the 12th of July 2020.

After the applications, the Teachers Service Commission and Boards of Management (BOM) are supposed to conduct the selection exercise for the advertised posts in their respective schools.

TSC has entrusted the Selection Panel to utilize the highest degree of transparency and accountability, as stipulated in the Public Officers Ethics Act and the TSC Code of Conduct and Ethics 2015. The Head of Institution is required to induct members on the relevant areas of the Act and CORT 2015 before the start of the exercise of selecting candidates.

The TSC County Director is required to ensure that the process of recruitment is done in strict following to the Ministry of Education’s set protocols.

All applicants have to be registered teachers according to Section 23 (1) of the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) Act, 2012. Applicants who are not registered teachers are not eligible to be recruited.

In the case of applicants who apply for confirmation of results from KNEC should give the address of the County Director where they have handed in their applications.

If the names of the applicants differ in the certificates and/or identity cards are needed to present a sworn affidavit concerning the difference in names.

Those candidates who repeated either the KCPE or the KCSE examinations (or their equivalents) MUST present certified copies of the certificate(s) of the national examination(s) in question for all attempts

Boost for Intern Teachers

TSC recently announced a huge respite for intern teachers as the Commission awarded interns thirty (30) marks in the upcoming interview.

This came as a stinging blow to those teachers who did not apply for the internship vacancies.

Both senior and junior interns will smile all the way to the interview venues as the Commission allocated them the same amount of marks (30). Therefore, presenting the required documents in the interview will be highly advised. If not, an intern may not be awarded the full 30 marks.

The following are TSC’s required evidence during the upcoming interview.

Required Evidence for Senior Interns

Senior interns were recruited in the month of December 2019 and reported to work in January 2020.

Following the announcement of the first COVID-19 case in Kenya, all learning institutions were closed in order to curb the spread of the novel Coronavirus pandemic.

The Commission then promised to award then certificates but has not awarded them any as of now with the awarding of the 30 marks the only reward for the interns to date. However, the 30 marks awarded will mean most of them will have a better chance of securing employment.

During the interview, the following items will be required as evidence.

  1. Three payslips for 2020 and three payslips for 2021
  2. A letter from the institution where you have been doing the internship.
  3. A letter from the County Director of Education showing when you were contracted.

Evidence required for junior interns

The following is the evidence required for junior interns.

  1. Three payslips for the year 2020 (all MUST be original).
  2. A letter from the institution where you did the internship.
  3. A letter from the County Director of Education showing when you were contracted.

All the above documents will provide proof of internship and if anyone will not have the above documents, it will be difficult to secure employment on permanent and pensionable terms this July.

Besides the academic and professional documents, do remember to go to the interview with all evidence required.
