Intelligence Report Confirms KNEC Officers Part of Exams Cheating Cartels
An intelligence report by Kenya’s National Intelligence Service NIS has confirmed that the Kenya National Examinations Council KNEC Officers were part of the cartels involved in examination cheating.
According to the report, the senior officers at the examinations council aided in leaking of the national examinations.
Following the report, the Cabinet Secretary of Education Dr. Fred Matiangi dissolved the KNEC Board in 2016 as a measure to try and bring sanity in the KCPE and KCSE examinations.
He then constituted a new board to try and restore the already detoriated public confidence.
The daily Nation online edition reported that some information about the 2016 KNEC exams was shared in the court, in a case involving Thomas Mackenzie and KNEC.
Mr Mackenzie took the examination body to court for being dismissed from his work on the 25th of April 2016 as the principal examination administrator.
Mr Mackenzie also headed the invigilation and supervision department.
