The Kenya Union of Post Primary Education Teachers (KUPPET) has directed ten of its branches to submit venues for their upcoming repeat and by-elections by June 12, 2026. The polls are officially scheduled to take place on July 4, 2026.
Branches Affected by the Directive
In an official circular dated June 8, 2026, KUPPET Deputy Secretary General Moses Nthurima instructed the Branch Executive Secretaries to urgently identify suitable locations. The affected branches include Kitui, Mombasa, Kirinyaga, Nairobi, Kericho, Muranga, Lamu, Garissa, Laikipia, and Uasin Gishu.
Strict Venue Requirements Outlined
To guarantee a seamless voting exercise, the national office has outlined specific criteria for the proposed locations. Branch officials must ensure the selected venues are easily accessible to all union members.
Security and capacity are also top priorities. The directive mandates that venues must be secure, suitable for the election process, and spacious enough to accommodate the anticipated voter turnout.
Call for Timely Compliance
This latest directive follows earlier communications issued on May 28 and 29, 2026. Nthurima emphasized the importance of beating the June 12 deadline to allow the head office ample time for proper planning and logistical coordination.
Failure to submit the venues on time could potentially derail the highly anticipated July 4 repeat elections in the ten regions.
