Deadline Set For Registration of 2022 KCSE and KCPE Candidates
The Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) has directed both public and private schools to ensure that they have registered the 2022 candidates by the 28th of February 2022.
Earlier, KNEC announced that the registration process for the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) and the Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) examinations were to start on the 2nd of January 2022 and end in February.
The Ministry of Education has since warned heads of institutions that the period for the registration of KCPE and KCSE candidates will not be extended any further.
2022 KCPE and KCSE candidates will start their national examinations in December 2022.
According to the examination timetable, KCPE will be done between the 28th of November and the 1st of December 2022. On the other hand, the KCSE examinations will be administered between the 1st of December and the 23rd of December 2022.
Regarding the 2021 KCPE, they will sit for their national examinations between March 7 and 10 while the 2021 KCSE candidates will sit for theirs between the 11th of March and 1st of April 2022.
According to the KNEC data, a total of 2,056,719 candidates were registered to sit for the national examinations. 1,225,693 of this will sit for the KCPE examinations while 831,026 will sit for their KCSE 2021 examinations.
The examiner also revealed that the number of candidates set to sit for the KCPE national examinations by 34,085 compared to those who sat for the 2020 KCPE while KCSE recorded an increase in candidature by 78,424.
The Cabinet Secretary for Education Prof George Magoha visited the United Kingdom in the company of a team from the Ministry of Education and the Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC) as they checked on the progress of the printing of examinations.
CS Magoha also revealed that the examinations set to take place in March will have a human touch as they will be moderated in consideration of the disruption occasioned by the novel Coronavirus causing the academic calendar to be restructured.
“Our learners should relax and stop involving themselves in bad behaviour for fear of examinations. We are a considerate government and the examinations will be as humane as possible,” said CS Magoha.
The Kenya Secondary School Heads Association and the Primary School Heads Association said that preparations for the national examinations are going on well.
