Recruited Teachers Will Be Posted To Any County of Their Choice
According to reports, the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) is set to assign newly-recruited teachers to Junior Secondary Schools (JSS) schools of their own choice.
Following a thorough review of the online application process, potential employees will only select their teaching combination in a specific county.
This means that the Commission is the one that will ultimately choose the school to which a teacher is assigned.
In a Friday statement, the Commission revealed that 10,000 teachers will be hired on permanent and pensionable terms, while 25,550 teachers will be hired in the internship programme.
The 9,000 clots will be for permanent and pensionable secondary school teachers and 1,000 slots are intended for primary school teachers. The 21,550 vacancies are intended for the recruitment of teacher interns who shall handle JSS.
The Commission also revealed that the Commission will recruit an additional 4,000 intern teachers for elementary schools.
The Commission recently revealed that it had a teacher shortage of 114,581 teachers in public primary and secondary schools.
Applicants who underwent interviews and were ranked according to their performance in the selection process for each vacancy will be provided to the Commission by the TSC County Director and their recruitment documentation.
The applicants are required to have completed two teaching subjects in their Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examination except for Agriculture, Business Studies, Home Science and Computer Studies.
Those who did not do Business Studies and Computer Studies in their KCSE must have attained a minimum of a C+ (Plus) in their KCSE Mathematics examination.
Those who did not take Agriculture and Home Science must have attained at least a C+ (Plus) in Biology in their KCSE examination.
