KNEC to Probe Incident where Candidates Missed Exams

The Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) has promised to conduct an investigation into an incident where around 21 students failed to sit for their Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) theory examination papers on the second day of the examinations.

KNEC’s Chief Executive Officer David Njengere said that there was a misleading statement issued on the matter.

He said that the affected candidates did not attend a single school.

“The candidates were not from one school, they were from the entire sub-county,” he said.

The examiner is now set to investigate the issue of the pupils missing the examination.

“We have discussed with the team and that is a contravention of KNEC rules,” added Njengere.

It had been alleged that teenage pregnancy may have played a role in the Westlands DCC examination box.
