List of Persons KNEC Allows In Examination Centers during National Examinations

Grade Six and Class Eight learners have started their Kenya Primary School Education Assessment (KPSEA) and Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) which will end on the 30th of November 2022.

Form 4 candidates already started their Kenya Certificates of Secondary Education (KCSE) on the 21st of November 2022 and will end on the 22nd of December 2022.

Around 1,268,830 Grade 6 learners are sitting for their KPSEA examinations while 1,230,000 candidates are also sitting for their KCPE examinations. In secondary schools, 880,000 will sit for their KCSE.

The Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) has allowed very few specific individuals who can be present in the examination centres. This is a measure that is intended to curb examination cheating.

The following individuals are the only ones allowed in the examination centres during KPSEA, KCPE and KCSE examinations.

  • Centre Manager
  • Deputy Principal/Headteacher;- in case an examination centre has more than one deputy principal, the centre manager will designate only one deputy to assist him/her.
  • Supervisor(s)
  • Laboratory technician and science teacher (only during practicals)
  • Authorized support staff to prepare meals for candidates (they are to strictly restrict their movements to the kitchen area).
  • Invigilator(s)
  • Gatekeeper(s)

The school gate is also supposed to be open at all times when the candidates are doing their examinations. This is a calculated move in case of an impromptu visit by the authorities in case of a reported cheating incident.
