” Just over two years ago, your excellency (President Uhuru), you directed that we commence the National Integrated Identity Management System, it’s now my pleasure on behalf of my colleagues in the interministerial Committee to report on this historic day that the process is now complete, and we have now developed the Huduma Namba,” Said Dr. Matiangi.
The CS added that the Huduma Namba intends to integrate the public personal data so that every Kenyan gets a ‘Single Source of Truth’ or in Swahili referred to as the Huduma Namba.

Brief on National Integrated Identity Management System (NIIMS) program
In 2018, the Kenyan Government initiated the National Integrated Identity Management System (NIIMS) program via the President’s Executive Order No. 1 (2018).
In the end, each Kenyan would be issued with a single card called the Huduma Number Card.
Uhuru’s government initiated the NIIMS Program to create and manage a central master population database. The database would act as a ‘single source of truth’ containing all the details of Kenyans.
According to the government, the NIIMS database will contain information of all Kenyan citizens and foreign nationals residing in Kenya and will serve as a reference point for ease of service delivery to the people of Kenya.
