Here Is How Teachers, Students and Parents Can Confirm 2021 KCSE and KCPE Registration Details
The Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) is through with capturing the details of candidates for the 2021 Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) and the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE). Candidates, parents and schools are now able to check details of the registered candidates to ensure they are correct.
This latest way of checking KCPE and KCSE registration details means that even parents and guardians can check the registration details for their kids who have been registered for this year’s national examinations.
Learners have been reported to have been turned away for failing to be registered for the KCSE and KCPE but now more stakeholders in the education sector can actually see and be aware of the details of registration.
Candidates on their part can now confirm if their gender, names and the subjects they registered for are accurate.
In some incidences in the past, candidates have been forced to sit for subjects that they did not wish to do. This led to poor performances unexpectedly for students whom their schools and parents knew as good performances, all down to not checking and confirming if the registration details are true.
Now KNEC has gone a step further and provided a way of checking your registration details using a mobile phone. You can use the following procedure to check out the registration details.
- Go to your messaging app where you can send an SMS message.
- Type in the INDEX NUMBER and the type of examination i.e. KCSE or KCPE without putting any space between the index number and the type of exam. For example, if your learners’ index is 33445566012 and you are sitting for the KCSE, enter the 33445566012KCSE asthe message. If you are sitting for the KCPE using index number 33445566012, then you should enter 33445566012KCPE as the new message.
- After writing the message, send it to 20076 using any line (either Airtel, Telkom or Safaricom.
NOTE: Each message costs Sh. 25 and the Index Number should contain 12 digits.
After sending the message you will receive an SMS with your registration details. You can then check if the details are correctly captured. In case there is any disparity, inform your Principal/Head of the Institution as soon as possible for immediate action.
