Vacancy 1-5 of Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development KICD December 2019

1. ASSISTANT DIRECTOR QUALITY ASSURANCE AND RISK MANAGEMENT KICD GRADE 4 ONE (1) POST

The Assistant Director- Quality Assurance and Risk Management will report to the

Deputy Director- Corporate Planning, Quality Assurance, and Risk Management:

Duties and Responsibilities The Assistant Director – Quality Assurance and Risk Management: –

  1. Oversee the implementation and administration of ISO standards for the Institute;
  2. Establish and implement an Information Security Management System (ISMS) standards;
  3. Initiating the development of standards, systems and procedures for compliance, quality assurance, and risk management;
  4. Initiating the preparation and spearheading the implementation of quality assurance and enterprise risk management plans;
  5. Coordinating the implementation of various quality management systems/standards within the Institute;
  6. Coordinating internal and external quality management system audits and liaising with certifying body for certification;
  7. Facilitating the identification and evaluation of risks in liaison with process owners, monitoring risk exposure and advising management accordingly;
  8. Evaluating the risk exposures relating to the Institute’s governance, operations and information systems;
  9. Developing the enterprise risk management strategy, policy and framework for the Institute;
  10. Coaching management in responding to risks;
  11. Managing all activities and processes and support management’s achievement of strategic targets by providing risk navigation of key performance indicators;
  12. Appraising the relevance, reliability and integrity of management, and operating reports, risk management and control processes
  13. Design and Implement structured quality management policy, strategy and methodology across the organization.
  14. Establish and maintain quality management systems and metrics, monitor and review compliance with the KICD quality assurance standards and compliance requirements among others.

The requirement for Appointment of The Assistant Director – Quality Assurance and Risk Management: –

For an appointment to this grade, an applicant must have: –

  1. Served in the grade of Principal Quality Assurance Officer, Job group “P” or equivalent and relevant position in public or private organization for a minimum period of three (3) years;
  2. Bachelor’s degree in any of the following fields: Education, Economics, Statistics, Economics and Mathematics, Business Management or equivalent from a recognized institution;
  3. Master’s degree in any of the following fields: Education, Economics,
  4. Statistics, Economics and Mathematics, Business Management or equivalent from a recognized institution;
  5. At least 4 years’ experience in ISO 9001:2015 or ISO 9001: 2008 implementation or administration;
  6. Demonstrated training and experience as ISO 9001:2015 lead internal auditor in a large organization.
  7. Leadership course lasting not less than four (4) weeks from a recognized institution;
  8. Management course lasting not less than four (4) weeks from a recognized institution;
  9. At least three (3) years’ experience in a supervisory role;
  10. Member of a quality assurance professional body;
  11. Shown merit and ability as reflected in work performance and results.
  12. Fulfil the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution.

2. CURRICULUM DEVELOPMENT OFFICER, (KISWAHILI) KICD GRADE 6, TWO (2) POSTS – Primary Education and Secondary Education

The Curriculum Development Officer, (Kiswahili) will report to the Senior Deputy Director Curriculum Development:

Duties and Responsibilities of the Curriculum Development Officer, Kiswahili

Duties and responsibilities at this level will entail the following:

  1. Development of instruments for data collection and mapping out research areas;
  2. Undertaking data collection and analysis;
  3. Preparation of education needs assessment reports;
  4. Analysis of National Examinations;
  5. Conducting activities of subject and Course Panel;
  6. Development of relevant and quality curriculum and curriculum support materials;
  7. Development of teacher training materials and orientation of teachers in Kiswahili and
  8. Development and review of documents for evaluation and vetting of curriculum support materials

Requirement for Appointment of the Curriculum Development Officer Kiswahili

For an appointment to this grade an applicant must have:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Education (Kiswahili) or its equivalent from a recognized institution
  2. Relevant working experience of at least Five (5) years
  3. Demonstrated professional competence in curriculum development in Kiswahili or related areas;
  4. Proficient in computer use and application;
  5. Initiative, be a team player and highly motivated;
  6. Fulfill the requirement of chapter six of the constitution

3. CURRICULUM   DEVELOPMENT OFFICER,   (LANGUAGE ACTIVITIES) KICD GRADE 6, ONE (1) POST – Pre-primary Education

The Curriculum Development Officer, (Language Activities) will report to the

Senior Deputy Director Curriculum Development:

Duties and responsibilities at this level will entail the following:

  1. Development of instruments for data collection and mapping out research areas;
  2. Undertaking data collection and analysis;
  3. Preparation of education needs assessment reports;
  4. Analysis of National Examinations;
  5. Conducting activities of subject and Course Panel;
  6. Development of relevant and quality curriculum and curriculum support materials;
  7. Development of teacher training materials and orientation of teachers in Language Activities and
  8. Development and review of documents for evaluation and vetting of curriculum support materials

Requirement for Appointment of the Curriculum Development Officer Language Activities

For appointment to this grade, an applicant must have:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Education Language Activities or its equivalent from a recognized institution;
  2. Relevant working experience of at least Five (5) years;
  3. Demonstrated professional competence in curriculum development in Language Activities or related areas;
  4. Proficient in computer use and application;
  5. Initiative, be a team player and highly motivated;
  6. Fulfill the requirement of chapter six of the constitution.

4. CURRICULUM DEVELOPMENT OFFICER, (LIFE SKILLS EDUCATION) KICD GRADE 6, ONE (1) POST

The Curriculum Development Officer, (Life Skills Education) will report to the Senior Deputy Director of Curriculum Development:

Duties and responsibilities at this level will entail the following:

Requirement for Appointment for the Curriculum Development Officer, Life Skills Education

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Education (Life Skills Education) or its equivalent from a recognized institution
  2. Relevant working experience of at least Five (5) years
  3. Demonstrated professional competence in curriculum development in Life Skills Education or related areas;
  4. Proficient in computer use and application;

5. CURRICULUM DEVELOPMENT OFFICER, AVIATION TECHNOLOGY KICD GRADE 6, ONE (1) POST

The Curriculum Development Officer, (Aviation Technology) will report to the

Senior Deputy Director of Curriculum Development:

Duties and responsibilities at this level will entail the following:

Requirement for Appointment of the Curriculum Development Officer, Aviation Technology

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Education Aviation Technology or its equivalent from a recognized institution
  2. Relevant working experience of at least Five (5) years
  3. Demonstrated professional competence in curriculum development in Aviation Technology or related areas;
  4. Proficient in computer use and application;
  5. Initiative, be a team player and highly motivated;
  6. Fulfill the requirement of chapter six of the constitution.
