Tobias Chanji, the KTN News reporter said that he confirmed the information from the Mombasa County Commissioner Gilbert Kitio on the morning of Wednesday 21 October 2020.
“We have received a confirmation from the Mombasa County Commission Gilbert Kitio that two of the schools have been closed after 15 teachers tested positive for Covid-19,” reported Chanji.
“The schools have been shut for two weeks to allow fumigation, and waiting of test results from the rest of teachers, school staff, and pupils,” said the reporter.
The two schools are located on Mombasa Island.
Emergency Beds in Mombasa are Full
According to information from the school, the teachers started showing Covid-19 symptoms last week and opted for a private screening. The test results turned out positive.
Information reaching teacher.co.ke is that the learners have not been tested at all. It is suspected that they are carriers of the same Covid-19 virus.
Mombasa County Commission Mr. Gilbert Kitio while giving his address yesterday, during the Mashujaa Day Celebrations at Mamangina grounds, said that the County lacks any extra hospital emergency beds.
The Commissioner said that all the beds are full.
