It is reported that the fire which consumed the school workshop and main study centre, started on Saturday evening.
Sources indicate that the fire is being contained as the fire fighters are already at the school.
The Starehe Boys Centre acting director Josphat Mwaura, reported that the school administration is confirming to account for all the students.
So far no casualty has been reported.
According to Charles Njagua (formerly Musician Jaguar) who is the current Starehe Member of Parliament, fire fighters from the Nairobi fire department acted in time to contain the inferno.
The MP thanked the Nairobi City Council-fire brigade and KPLC for their instant response to the scene of tragedy.
The exact cause of the fire at school has not yet been established.
However, there are speculations of the fire having been caused by faults in electricity lines.
