Unemployed P1 Teachers Want TSC to Follow Year of Graduation in Recruitment
Some unemployed primary school teachers are calling on the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) to follow the year of graduation in recruitment for the sake of fairness.
The teachers want the Commission to follow the year that teachers graduated from their respective Teacher Training Colleges (TTC) in its recruitment exercise.
The teachers protested after the Commission revealed a scoresheet that put teachers who graduated with their Primary Teacher Education (PTE) in 2015 and before in the same grouping.
According to the score sheet released in July, teachers who graduated in the year 2015 or backwards were given the same marks.
Those who graduated in 2016 were awarded 30 marks, 2017 were awarded 25 marks, 2018 awarded 20 marks, 2019 awarded 15 marks, 2020 awarded 10 marks and 2021 or later awarded 5 marks.
The teachers who protested the marks awarded on the score sheet argued that if a teacher graduated in 2010 he or she cannot be awarded the same marks as those who graduated in 2015.
