CS Magoha: KCSE Results to be released by 10th May

According to the Cabinet Secretary for Education Prof George Magoha, the Kenya Certificate of Secondary (KCSE) results in 2020 will be out by the 10th of May, 2020.

On Wednesday while speaking at the Nairobi School, the Cabinet Secretary declared the exercise at a success rate of 99.9 percent. CS Magoha went to the institution to oversee the completion of the KCSE examinations.

The CS congratulated the 752,891 candidates who did their examinations after schools were closed for a prolonged period following the recording of the first case of the novel coronavirus.

Regarding examination irregularities, CS Magoha said that attempts of exposing examination papers had been thwarted as quickly as possible in a few examination centers across the country.

“We experienced a number of cases where examination officials tried to open the papers with the intention of exposing them to candidates before the actual examinations begun. we thwarted these efforts in a few centers countrywide, some of which I released to you during my weekly briefs,” Prof George Magoha said on Wednesday.

Owing to allegations of participating in examination malpractice and hence violating examination administration laws, 27 officials were stripped of their responsibilities as supervisors, center administrators, supervisors, or invigilators.

The Ministry of Education will hand over the names of 27  officials to the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) for disciplinary action to be taken against them.

At the same time, 37 civilians among them three university students were nabbed for trying to commit examination fraud.

A total of 53 cell phones were seized from students around the country.

“As we speak, security agencies are busy doing thorough forensic investigations to find out if the gadgets were used to assist any form of cheating in examinations,” explained CS Magoha.
