Former Education Cabinet Secretary Gets Job at Maseno University
Prof George Magoha, the former Education Cabinet Secretary (CS) has gotten another job just three months after leaving the Ministry of Education.
The current Cabinet Secretary for Education Ezekiel Machogu replaced Prof George Magoha after the current administration came into power.
The Former CS is now set to teach and direct research at Maseno University’s medical school.
“Magoha is an invaluable asset to the institution because of his vast experience in the medical field.
“We are lucky as an institution because of our School of Medicine is relatively new and it will be a boost to have a strong personality like Magoha in our team,” the University announced In a statement.
Magoha’s entry into academia is his second stint as a lecturer at a higher institution of learning having taught at the University of Nairobi (UoN) where he served as a Urological and Transplant Surgery professor at the College of Health Sciences.
At UoN, Magoha rose through the ranks and was appointed as the Vice Chancellor of the institution in 2005.
Magoha served in that position for a period of ten years until 2015 when he left the position to head the Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC).
Former President Uhuru Kenyatta appointed him to head the Examiner and rewarded him with the position of Education CS on March 1, 2019. He was then sworn in officially on the 26th of March 2019.
Before he took up the position at Maseno University, Magoha had revealed that he would like to go into private practice.
“I will miss you, journalists, you played a big role. If you have issues with passing urine, pass by my clinic in Nairobi Hospital,” said Magoha told the press about his plans for retirement back in August 2022.
