Kericho County Launches Digital for Youth in a Bid to Address Unemployment
Youths in Kericho County have been given a decent opportunity to utilize the digital space as a tool as a way of addressing the rising state of unemployment in the county.
During the launch of a two-day Ajira Digital training held at Kericho town e-citizens Service Centre, Ag. CECM in Charge of ICT, E-Government, Gender, Sports and Youth Affairs Hon Judith Chirchir and Her Chief Officer Mr Geoffrey emphasized the county’s commitment to ensuring that one million youth being targeted by the Ajira Digital program is achieved.
The training was being facilitated by the Ministry of Information, Communication and Digital Economy in partnership with the county intends to introduce the youth to digital jobs and provide them with tools, training and mentorship to enable them to work and earn a livelihood.
Mr Bett said that the programme will change the digital landscape by exposing the youth to millions of productive opportunities from the internet.
However, he issued a warning to the youth to avoid abusing the digital space with destructive and illegal doings.
According to Ajira Digital programme’s South Rift Regional Coordinator Nelson Mitei, the programme was offered free of charge.
He implored the youth to take advantage of the training in order to boost their chances of employment and live a better life.
