KNEC Reveals Grade 6 KPSEA Results will be out Tomorrow
According to the Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC), the 1.26 million pupils who sat for their Grade 6 summative assessment will get their results tomorrow Monday the 16th of January 2023.
“We are working towards that, as we had earlier planned in December, as we shall have the results on Monday, in case the council has anything to communicate,” said a KNEC official to the media.
During the release of the Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE), the Council’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO) David Njengere said that the KPSEA results will be released in three reports in line with the proposals of the education review panel to abolish KPSEA as grade 7 placement.
“We will get back to KICD and tell them areas that need to be adjusted in the curriculum designs, and we will do the same with TSC,” said Njengere to the media.
KNEC is going to use the results to assess the progress of the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC). This means that the results will not be used to determine which school a learner shall attend because Junior Secondary School is going to be domiciled in primary school.
“It will guide teachers on strands that need intervention in teaching and learning,” said Njengere.
the three sections in the report are Individual Learners Report, School Specific Report, and the National Report on School-Based Assessment and Summative Assessment.
The national report will be used to give feedback to stakeholders of education on areas that require intervention.
“The report will indicate the proportion of learners at each of the performance levels per subject and strand,” added Njengere.
Further, Njengere said that the scope of school-specific reports will be issued to individual schools while individual learner reports will be issued to learners to show their level of performance in specific subjects of ‘strands.
Tomorrow the results will be available to parents and shall be accessed via the school websites.
According to Njengere, the results will help in identifying places where teachers have not been able to deliver.
The Commission will be able to address areas that require intervention even though there is teacher professional development.
“It will be used as an assessment to monitor learning progress and provide feedback to education sector players on areas that require intervention,” read part of the report.
The Government through the Ministry of Education will now ensure equity, access to education, and the operation of the CBC.
