KICD set to release New KCSE Setbooks for 2021-2025
The government of the Republic of Kenya is in the process of approving new set books for both secondary schools and Teacher Training Colleges.
The setbooks will be in use from the month of May 2022 when the current Form two students shall be joining Form 3.
KCSE set texts are changed after every four years.
The process of changing or replacing the books involves a rigorous panel, which includes quality assurance standard officers from the Ministry of Education (MoE) and the Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development (KICD) officers.
Tutors of TTCs, teachers of secondary schools and university dons in Kiswahili and English are also involved in the process of evaluation.
KICD evaluates the books to determine whether they are suitable for use in relation to the objectives of secondary and TTC curricular.
Prior to the undergoing approval, the KICD received a total of 142 books from 39 publishers after the timeline of submission began in March 2021.
These consisted of 52 set books for English and 90 set books for Kiswahili.
At the moment 10 books are listed in this category are are among the vetted and prescribed books.

Who shall sit for the new set texts?
The current Form 2s are the ones who shall sit for the new the setbooks in May, 2022.
Books like Julius Ceasar are promising to be quite some English to learn for our learners.

I beg to disagree because by May 2022 the students in form two now will be in form four preparing for exams using the school calendar which was developed by the MoE. I think those who are in form one now,will be the ones who are going to be the first ones to do the set books. You can correct mean and make me understand this. Thank you
