Teachers File Your KRA Returns, TSC Reminds Tutors

Teachers under the Teachers Service Commission, TSC, have been reminded to file their Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) tax returns.

The reminder came through a circular dated 9th April 2020, titled, ‘Filing of Individual Income Tax Returns for the year 2019 and signed by TSC CEO Dr. Nancy Macharia.

In the communique, the Commission directed all teachers to file their 2019 tax returns through the KRA’s online itax platform before the June 30th, 2020 deadline.

“The tax deductions card (P9 Forms) have been uploaded on the TSC Payslip Portal for all TSC employees to DOWNLOAD,” wrote Dr. Macharia.
Using the P9 forms, filing the returns is easily facilitated.

The TSC CEO further notified the education fraternity that they were working with the taxman to update the itax records from the year 2015 to date to be issued with the KRA Tax Compliance Certificate.

The filing of tax returns is a legal, and compulsory yearly process for all Citizens and businesses in Kenya.

It is always advisable to file tax returns early enough to avoid network glitches and slowdowns experienced on KRA’s online itax portal last days before the deadline.
