KUCCPS Says 125,449 Candidates with C Plus and above in 2019 KCSE will Join University

Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) officially declared that 125,449 candidates who scored grade C+ and above in the 2019 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education KCSE will join Universities.

The good news came after the KUCCPS board sat to deliberate on the placement and admission of the 2019 KCSE candidates on Monday the 17th of February 2020.

KUCCPS decision comes as a sigh of relief to thousands of anxious candidates who have been waiting.

The Chief Executive of the Placement Service, Dr. John Muraguri said that despite the available capacity of 193,878, only 125,449 candidates will be placed into Universities as they met the minimum university entry requirements for degree programs. 

Accordingly, 688,928 candidates will be placed in tertiary colleges.

563,479 Candidates Qualified for TVET Placement 

On Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institutions placements, the candidates that qualified are 563,479. The figure is too way above the 350,000 declared capacity by the State Department of Vocational and Technical Training.

KUCCPS CEO Dr. Muraguri said “The capacity is enough to absorb 62 percent of the 563,479 KCSE

“All the 2019 candidates who scored grade C and below will be allowed to apply for a placement at TVET institutions,” said Dr. Muraguri.

KUCCPS Revision of University Degree Courses

According to Daily Nation, placement of candidates by kuccps will go on as revision of university degree courses is expected to run between the 17th of February 2020 to the 9th of March 2020. 

For TVET application dates, KUCCPS will announce the exact dates when the online portal will be opened.
