KUCCPS Student Portal Open, Here’s the University Course Application Procedure

The Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) opened its portal  from February 17th 2020 for the students who sat for the 2019 KCSE examination to revise or apply for their university career courses of their choice, and will be closed on March 9th 2020 at 5.00 pm.

The opportunity to do the revision will apply to students who attained a mean grade of C+ and above for universities and those who scored between C and E qualify to be placed in tertiary institutions. Both categories will be sponsored by the Government.

Besides providing the platform for the placement of Government-sponsored students to universities and colleges, KUCCPS also provides information on the available programs, possible cost implications and study areas prioritized by the Kenyan Government and also performing career guidance for students and also acts as the advisor of the government on matters pertaining college and university student placement.

Students’ Numbers Versus Available Capacity in Universities

The number of students who attained a mean grade of C+ and above in 2019 is 125,449 while placement capacity offered by universities is 193,878. This means that all students will be comfortably placed in the respective universities depending on their career and university choices. However, it should be clearly pointed out that accommodation in those universities may not have been accounted for in the 193,878 capacity as mentioned by the universities.

Tertiary Institutions

For tertiary institutions, the capacity as reported by the State Department of Vocational and Technical Training is 350,000 which takes around 62% of the 563,479 students who scored between C and E to join tertiary institutions.

Othet Tertiary Institutions

The remaining 32% can be absorbed by other TVET institutions, therefore, ensuring that all students are given a chance in developing their careers.
