Moi University to Reward Staff Wearing Kenyan Attire
Moi University Staff members have been encouraged to follow the presidential directive for civil servants to wear clothes made in Kenya on Fridays and Public holidays.
This was communicated through a 22nd of September 2022 memo to deans, directors, chairs of departments and heads of departments, the university Head of Corporate Affairs and Protocol, Ms Patricia Cheramboss called on the heads to inform members of staff to adhere to the issued directive.
Cheramboss revealed that the university will be rewarding staff who follow the issued directive fully.
The recommended clothes include but are not limited to Ankara, Kitenge and Rivatex fabrics.
The Presidential directive was issued back in October 2019 when government officials were told to follow the issued directives.
The directive was intended to help in achieving the Big 4 Agenda, especially the expansion of the manufacturing pillar by producing goods locally and by creating employment.
The directive has been adopted progressively in government institutions with Moi University being the latest institution to instruct its staff to adhere to it.
