Moi University Students Call for Speedy Disbursement of HELB

Moi University Students’s association leaders have called on President William Samoei Ruto to push the Higher Education Loans Board (HELB) to appropriately release funds to their bank accounts.

Moi University Students Organization (MUSO) President Kepha Erick Opass has revealed that students have not received their HELB loans.

“As students, we are disappointed with the current method of disbursing these funds. Sometimes, we receive the funds at the end of the semester when it is unnecessary. We urge the head of state to move with speed and streamline the process through the relevant authorities,” said Kepha.

In an address to the media, Kepha implored the Commission to facilitate the speedy release of upkeep and tuition fees on time to ensure that comrades do not continue suffering.

“We also want an increase in the allocation of funds between 20-30% to every student due to economic constrains so as to cater for the increased university academic fees and tuition fees,” added Kepha.

Kepha also revealed his support for Embakasi MP Babu Owino’s remarks that the allegedly remaining Kshs. 93 Million that is remaining in the National Treasury should be sent to students/comrades as HELB loans.

Kepha is also the Secretary General of the Kenya Universities Students’ Organization.

The student leader called on His Excellency William Ruto to keep his promise of making financial efforts to improve the lives of the common Kenyans through the improvement of social services, infrastructure, health and education.

“Mr President, we request for your support through your able ministries to support our apple form projects. Our Rivatex East Africa Textile Company has employed thousands across the entire North Rift Region and our students from both engineering school and aerospace with necessary practical equipment for practical opportunities,” said Kepha.

Moi University’s Student Organization also want the President to oversee the completion of the amphitheatre, library and a modern gate for the institution based in Kesses.
