TSC Cracking down On ‘Sossion’s Allies’

The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) is cracking down on teachers who have claimed to be working under instructions from former Kenya National Union of Teachers (KNUT) Secretary-General Wilson Sossion.

Kenya National Teachers Pressure Group (KNTPG) are being sought and immediate action is taken against them. Transfer to far-flung areas is being issued to members of the group in a bid to destabilize it.

The KNTPG is planning to conduct major demonstrations against the Commission on Friday in Nairobi City. It has been rumoured that Wilson Sossion is the one funding the group.

In a demonstration notification from the group, the demonstrations are set to start from Delfirm Hotel located at River Road then proceed through Accra road, then Tom Mboya Street, Harambee Avenue up to Parliament Road.

The current KNUT Secretary-General Collins Oyuu has been issuing the Kenya National Union of Teachers (KNUT) critics that his union should be given room to render their service to teachers.

KNUT was among the main teachers’ unions that signed the new non-monetary Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA).

KNTPG has been at the forefront in the opposition against the Teacher Professional Development (TPD) programme that the Commission has scheduled to commence this December.

Besides the TPD, the group has also voiced its complaints about TSC’s AON Minet medical cover for the teaching fraternity.

At the moment of writing this article, TSC has ‘punished’ more than six teachers linked to KNTPG via transfers that are far away from their current working stations.

For instance, the KNTPG spokesperson Ms Martha Omollo has since been issued with a swift directed transfer from Nairobi to Trans-Nzoia County just a day after calling for changes in the Commission’s AON Minet medical scheme.
