Moi Girls Eldoret Closed Over Students’ Unrest
Today morning (Wednesday), Moi Girls High School in Eldoret closed for an indefinite period following a strike by students.
The students claimed they were striking over what they believed was tough measures set by the school administration.
The students on strike called for the removal of their school principal Christine Chumba from her post blaming her of harassing them as well as teachers.
Besides, the students alleged that there has been mismanagement of funds, lack of electricity in the school and closing of the school canteen.
A change of diet was also bundled about as one of the reasons they went on strike as well as the abolishment of students’ entertainment in the school.
Uasin Gishu County Director of Education Gitonga Mbaka, as he announced closure of the school, revealed that learners were given until Thursday to leave the school compound.
