KeNHA Invites Applications for Scholarships for KCSE Students

The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) has announced openings for applications for scholarships targeting students who scored D- and below in their Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE).

The announcement was done via a notice released on Tuesday the 22nd of February whereby the agency revealed that it picked three technical training colleges where successful applicants will receive their training.

The technical training colleges chosen are Kaiboi Technical Training Institute, Kitale Vocational Training Centre and Vera College.

Courses Offered

The following are some of the courses offered under the scholarships announced.

  • Agricultural engineering
  • Electrical Wireman
  •  Motor Vehicle Mechanics
  • Wielding and Fabrication
  • Carpentry
  • Masonry
  • Fashion design
  • Electrical and Electronics Technology

A part of the notice reads:

The Technical and Vocational Education Training (TVET) programme will be implemented by a team of local selected technical and vocational training institutes with Uasin Gishu County and Trans Nzoia County.

The aim of this scholarship is to support a capacity development process during the project period that will assist the youth and people living with disabilities to be considered for training.

The scholarship is comprehensive and covers tuition fees, boarding fees and a token for the students themselves.

Selection criteria

Interested applicants should:

  • Be able to read and write and live in informal settlements
  • Be aged between 18 and 35 years

Application Procedure

  • Download the application form from the KeNHA website and fill it.
  • Drop the filled form at the designated KeNHA offices.

The applicants will then undergo evaluation by a presentation/vetting interview of the applicants who meet the required criteria.

Scholarships will be awarded based on a comparative evaluation of the applications received, the requirements met and the criteria relating to the merit gotten in relation with other government agencies.

After this KeNHA will then publish successful candidates.
