CS Magoha’s warning on Fake Examination Papers Circulating the Market
Cabinet Secretary for Education Prof George Magoha has warned Kenyans that there are fake papers being circulated in the market.
The CS admitted that there has been a few examination malpractices that have been witnessed in the ongoing Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examinations.
CS Magoha said that even though the examination has been fair, he warned parents and teachers alike about the fake examination papers being distributed in the market across the country.
“The new thing is that there are people who have begun selling fake papers. I, therefore warn parents and teachers not to be duped into buying or even utilizing the question papers,” said the CS.
Speaking on the fourth day of the KCSE examinations at the Upper Hill School on Thursday, the 1st of March 2021, CS Magoha said that eight mobile phones had been found among KCSE candidates across the country.
“Eight candidates were found with mobile phones in the examination rooms. These cellphones were confiscated from various examination centers for investigations. The examinations have been very credible despite a few incidents and attempts to cheat all of which have been nipped in the bud,” added the CS.
On Tuesday, the 30th of March 2021, an invigilator was nabbed in Migori County by education officials due to engaging in examination malpractices.
The suspect and three other teachers including the Principal were arraigned at the Rongo Law Courts.
The court heard the case whereby the suspects had shared some of the examination papers in a bid to help candidates revise before the stipulated time.
The tutors denied the accusations of engaging in examination malpractice, saying that they are innocent.
They shall be detained at the Kamagambo Police Station to allow investigations to be completed. The case shall be heard on April 9.
