It is good news amid the Covid-19 pandemic, as the Teachers Service Commission, TSC, advertises new 4,000 secondary school teaching vacancies and jobs to aid high schools in the government’s 100 percent student transition policy.
Primary school teachers on the other hand have been allocated 1,000 promotion posts or vacancies.
1,000 qualified primary school teachers will be promoted to teach in secondary schools and transfer their service from Primary.
TSC Advertises Over 6,000 Replacement Vacancies for Primary and Secondary School Teachers
Other than advertising new teaching vacancies, TSC has also advertised 5,474 replacement vacancies for primary school teachers who have left the teaching profession.
Secondary schools have also received 1,100 replacement vacancies in the advertised share.
The Teachers Service Commission usually replaces teachers who have exited teaching through either natural attrition or change of service.

Qualification Requirements For the TSC 2020 Secondary School Teaching Vacancies
The commission strictly adheres to its employment requirements and qualifications. Below are some of the requirements form secondary school teachers;
- Be a Kenyan Citizen.
- Possess a minimum of a Diploma in Education.
- Be registered with the Teachers Service Commission.
1,000 TSC Promotion Vacancies for Primary School Teachers
In its September 2020 Advertisement, the Teachers Service Commission, TSC, allocated 1,000 promotion posts for primary school teachers.
Teachers who meet the minimum qualification requirements will be promoted and be deployed to Secondary Schools.
Qualification Requirements for TSC Promotion of Primary School Teachers in 2020
- Currently serving under the Teachers Service Commission.
- Hold a P1 teaching Certificate
- Have a Bachelor’s Degree in Education with at least two (2) teaching subjects offered at Secondary schools,
- At least a C+(plus) mean grade at the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examinations or its equivalent, and a C+ (plus) or it’s equivalent in the two teaching subjects.
- Be a Kenyan Citizen.
TSC Job Group (Grade) and Salary Scale for the Successful Promoted Primary School Teachers
Upon successful promotion of the 1,000 primary school teachers, and deployment to Secondary School, the above teachers will be placed at the T-Scale 7, Grade C2.
This is the official promotional grade for primary school teachers. Grade C2 was formerly known as K.
The starting salary scale for this teaching grade is expected to range between Ksh 34,955 and Ksh 49,694.

Additional Information To All Applicants For September 2020 Tsc Teaching Vacancies
All applicants should know that: the commission will follow the 2020/2021 TSC recruitment guidelines. Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted and will be required to produce original professional and academic certificates.
Do not fill more than one TSC employment form, on a successful application otherwise you will be disqualified automatically.
Also, note that Individuals who have never been employed by TSC will be given preference.
Lastly, no Manual applications (hard copies) will be accepted.
Application Deadline for the September 2020 TSC Teaching Vacancies
Qualified candidates for the above teaching vacancies, including the replacement vacancies for both Primary Schools and Secondary Schools have until the 14th of September, 2020.
