The Kenya National Examinations Council KNEC has started paying the 2019 KCSE National examinations invigilators from the 8th of January 2019 as Examiners to be paid Shortly thereafter.
The 2019 KNEC invigilators received their pay via the Mpesa mobile payment platform.
Cabinet Secretary of Education Prof George Magoha released the 2019 KCSE examinations results on the 18th of December 2019 at the KNEC Headquarters in Nairobi.

2019 KNEC Pay Rates for Invigilators, Supervisors and Center Managers
The School headteachers earned a total of Ksh. 2,000 each as pay from KNEC for being the KCPE 2019 Center Managers.
The KCPE invigilators, on the other hand, were given Ksh. 2,485 while the Supervisors earned Ksh. 1,615 for the entire KCPE duration.
The Security of officers guarding the KCPE exams pocketed Ksh. 1,050 as the Drivers went home with Ksh. 1,040.
The KCSE 2019 Center Managers, a role executed by the School principals for 18 days, earned Ksh. 9,000 irrespective of their regions.
Supervisors in Mombasa and Nairobi were remunerated with Ksh. 12,510, while those from the other regions, pocketed Ksh.11,340.
KCSE 2019 invigilators in Nairobi and Mombasa received Ksh. 580 per day, totaling to 9,860 for the entire period.
Their counterparts from the rest of the Kenyan regions received Ksh. 7,820.
2019 KNEC Examiners to be paid Within 2 Weeks
The 2019 KNEC examiners should expect being paid within the next two weeks.
The examiners were given fare reimbursement as they were leaving the marking centres last year.
KNEC revised the pay rates per script marked in the 2019 KCSE Examinations. This was after the examiners downed their tools citing low pay and poor working conditions at the marking centres.
173, Personnel Manned 2019 KCPE Examinations
173,945 personnel manned the 2019 KCPE examinations across the 47 Counties.
The 2019 Kenya Certificate of Primary Examinations KCPE examinations ran from the 29th of October to the 31st of October.
A Total of 667,222 Candidates Sat for the 2019 KCSE Examinations
A total of 667,222 candidates sat for the 2019 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Examinations KCSE.
Out of that number, 51.0 percent were male, while 48.97 were female, a near gender parity.
Prof Magoha reported that a total of 17 counties had more females than male candidates in the 2019 KCSE examination compared to 18 counties in 2018.
The counties noted were: Meru, Vihiga, Kiambu, Elgeyo Marakwet, Nyandarua, Tharaka Nithi, Kisumu, Uasin Gishu, Murang’a, Machakos, Kitui, Taita Taveta, Makueni, Kirinyaga, Kakamega, Kwale, and Nandi counties.
2019 saw an increase in the examination centres to 10,287 from 10,078 in 2019.
