TSC Seeks Trainers for Junior Secondary Teachers in Science, Math, and English

The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) is recruiting a total of 2,629 facilitators for Junior Secondary School (JSS) teachers. The focus is on Integrated Science, Mathematics, and English subjects.

This initiative expands the School-Based Teacher Support System (SBTSS) into Junior Schools. The SBTSS was previously part of the Secondary Education Quality Improvement Project (SEQIP), which ran from 2017 to 2024. It is now continued under the Secondary Education Equity and Quality Improvement Programme (SEEQIP). The program aims to improve teaching quality and student learning outcomes.

The SBTSS will operate in all 47 counties. This includes schools in refugee camps located in Garissa and Turkana counties.

Who Can Apply?

TSC invites applications from serving teachers who meet these requirements:

  • Be a registered teacher with the Teachers Service Commission.
  • Hold a Diploma in Secondary Education with a major in Mathematics, Science, or English.
  • Have completed training in Competency-Based Education (CBE).
  • Have at least five years of teaching experience in a secondary school under TSC.
  • Show strong computer skills and application knowledge.
  • Be currently serving in the county where they wish to apply.
  • Not be a serving head teacher or deputy head teacher.

Added Advantages

Applicants with experience in specific roles have an added advantage. These roles include:

  • KICD course panelist
  • Trainer for CBE, SMASSE, SBTSS, or remote learning
  • ICT champion
  • Facilitator for Special Needs Education

Key Responsibilities

Selected trainers will:

  • Attend preparatory training sessions.
  • Develop training materials.
  • Conduct teacher training workshops.
  • Support peer learning among teachers.
  • Mentor and coach teachers at the school level.
  • Observe lessons and provide feedback.
  • Write and submit training reports.
  • Attend scheduled meetings.

How to Apply

Interested teachers should submit an application letter. The letter must not exceed two pages. Include a current Curriculum Vitae (CV). The CV should list all relevant trainings conducted and provide references.

Deadline and Submission

The application deadline is October 15, 2025. Submit all documents by mail or hand-deliver them to the respective TSC County Director’s office on or before this date.

A total of 2,340 facilitators are needed across the country. Specific county allocations are based on need.
