15000 TO EXIT TSC PAYROLL BY DECEMBER 31ST

Upwards of 15,000 teachers are set to retire from the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) by the 31st of December 2022.

According to the Commission, these teachers will leave the service through natural attrition. This includes both classroom teachers and school administrators in primary and secondary schools.

Due to this crisis, the Commission has made haste to replace the teachers through fresh recruitments for classroom teachers and promotions for administrators.

The Commission has already advertised the availability of 1,000 posts on permanent and pensionable terms of service for primary school teachers and 4,000 posts for teachers interns meant for primary schools.

In secondary schools there 21,550 posts for teacher interns in junior secondary schools and 9,000 posts on permanent and pensionable terms of service for secondary school teachers who shall be posted to junior secondary schools.

The deadline for applications for the advertised slots elapsed on the 31st of December.

The Commission also cancelled an advert for 14,738 promotions slots for school administrators following protests by teachers across the country including those holding administrative positions in acting capacity.
