University of Nairobi Comes Out On Top in Impact and Excellence Rank
The University of Nairobi (UoN) has been ranked top in top position in a ranking conducted by the Web of Universities which ranks universities locally and internationally.
The Web of Universities ranking covers one hundred (100) universities in Kenya and how they rank globally in openness, impact and excellence.
UoN is followed by Kenyatta University (KU) with Egerton University in the third position.
Maseno University ranked position seven (6) with Strathmore ranking seventh (7).
The Technical University of Kenya (TUK) was number eight (8) with Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology (MMUST) being ranked in position nine (9).
Kenya Forestry Research Institute ranked at position ten (10) and completed the top ten in the ranking.
Other top universities include the Catholic University of Eastern Africa, Pwani University, University of Embu, United States International University, DayStar University, Dedan Kimathi, Mount Kenya University, the South Eastern University of Technology and the Murang’a University of Technology.
Kibabii University, Bomet University College, Machakos University, Kabrak University, Kisii University, University of Eldoret, the Jaramogi Oginga Odinga University of Science and Technology and the Great Lakes University in Kisumu also made the top one hundred.

There were middle-level colleges also in the top 100 rankings among them the Kisumu National Polytechnic, Kenya Water Institute, Kenya Utalii College Nairobi, the Nairobi Technical Training Institute, the African Institute of Research and Development Studies, Kenya Institute of Mass Communications, International Leadership University, Railway Training Institute (Nairobi) and the Kenya Institute of Professional Studies also appeared on the list.
