Ministry of Education Issues Circular Directing All Principals to Provide Kshs. 200 per Learner for Co-Curricular Activities
The Ministry of Education (MoE) has issued a circular directing all principals to avail Kshs. 200 per Learner for Co-Curricular Activities.
This comes amid complaints from both teachers and learners in some schools over money pinching or being denied outright their right to showcase their talents by uncaring Principals.
Below is the full circular.
RE: 2022 CO-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES FROM FREE DAY SECONDARY SCHOOL EDUCATION (FDSE) CAPITATION GRANTS
Co-Curricular activities in schools were suspended at the onset of COVID-19 pandemic.
Consequently, no funds were provided for co-curricular activities in the financial years 2020/21 and 2021/22.
In view of the fact that the effects of COVID-19 have declined, these activities have been allowed to proceed in a gradual manner.
This was communicated through our circular referenced Ref.MOE.HQS/3/4/15 Vol.IV (66) dated 15th November 2021.
In this regard, you are required to advise Principals to vire Kshs. 200/- Kenyan shillings two hundred only) per learner from the Operations account to cater for the activities.
Julius O. Jwan, PhD, CBS
PRINCIPAL SECRETARY
