Faulu Micro-Finance working on the distribution of face-masks to schools

Faulu Micro-Finance Bank has begun a COVID-19 sensitization campaign as well as the distribution of face masks to pupils in schools.

The Managing Director (MD) to the Bank Apollo Njoroge said that the bank via UAP Old Mutual Faulu Foundation had begun a Sh 10 million virus sensitization campaign in 150 schools in 40 counties.

In Kajiado County, 10 schools from the area are going to benefit from the sensitization campaign with pupils receiving face-masks that are re-washable.

The Managing Director, while addressing the media in Kajiado on Wednesday as they launched the exercise, revealed that there is a need for frequent sensitization of COVID-19 protocols among pupils so as to flatten the curve.

Njoroge said that the foundation shall go to schools distributing face – masks while at the same time sensitizing them on the importance of strictly following the COVID-19 preventive guidelines as the Ministry of Health directs to control the spread of COVID-19.

“We have started a COVID-19 sensitization campaign over the next three months to emphasize the importance of following the set protocols to the virus at bay and prevent the spread of infection among pupils,” said Njoroge.

Deputy Governor to Kajiado County Martin Moshisho stressed that the fight against can only be won if all regulations set are adhered to, the smallest detail.

Martin Moshisho implored locals to ensure they wear face masks properly at all times, wash their hands frequently with soap and water and maintain social distancing at all times.

Moshisho also said that the low numbers of positive cases in the country in the past few days is a good thing and it was an indication that the curve was flattening.

“The disease is still here with us, we should not forget to keep wearing masks, sanitizing and observing social distance to completely flatten the curve and avoid the resurgence of the virus,” said Moshisho.

Kenya at the time of writing this article has recorded 99,308 positive cases of COVID-19 since the first case was reported in March 2020 with 1,734 people dying as a result of the novel coronavirus.
