CS Magoha to Release 2020 KCPE Results Today
Cabinet Secretary for education PROF George Magoha is set to release the Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) results today.
This is after he held a meeting and then handing over a copy of the results to President Uhuru.
1,191,725 candidates from 28467 schools registered to sit for the 2020 KCPE examination.
On Sunday of this week thousands of examiners are set to travel back to their home counties after completing the marking of Insha and Composition papers which make up 40 percent of the final Kiswahili and English papers respectively.
Only 70 percent of examiners participated in marking exercise. This attributed to the COVID-19 lockdown and curfews imposed to curb the spread of the global pandemic as well as the fear of contracting the disease.
The Ministry of Education had indicated that the KCPE examination results could be released any time this week.
CS Magoha made the announcement while in Kisumu supervising the distribution of the KCSE examination. The CS said that they are on the right track with only the marking of Kiswahili Insha and English Composition remaining.
The national examinations have been marred with examination leakages with malpractice and leakages.
For instance, evidence revealed that English, Science and Social Studies papers had been lifted from published books.
Distinction Publishers for instance distanced themselves from the KCPE 2020 incident where the English question papers matched one of the papers in their book that was published in February, a month before the national examination.
According to the publisher, the tests they do are used to analyze the student’s preparedness and are not in any way related to the setting of the national examinations.
“If the Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) used our content, then we do not have any problems with them. Our books have been used for the past years,” said a director to Distinction Publishers.
