KUCCPS: 15,000 2021 KCSE Candidates ignored University Placement

According to the Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placements Services (KUCCPS), fifteen thousand 2021 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) ignored placement to universities.

Those who ignored placement to university will not be able to get government sponsorship and scholarships through various funding organizations with the Higher Education Loans Boards (HELB) being the main one.

A day before the deadline for application for placement, 144,000 students who had attained the required grade of C+ for joining the university, only 128,000 had made their applications online with the remaining 15,754 yet to be determined if they were still interested in university placement or not.

“Applications are at 90 per cent. We are imploring those yet to make their applications to do so for them to be considered for government sponsorship,” said KUCCPS Chief Executive Officer Dr Mercy Wahome.

Final placements will be released towards the end of July as the start of the September academic calendar nears. This will give enough time to parents and students to prepare financially, psychologically and materially for the university level.

This means that those who want to join Technical and Vocational Education Training (TVET) Centers have reason to smile since the KUCCPS CEO revealed that there will be government sponsorship for those who sat for their KCSE between the years 2000 and 2021. This will ensure that no candidate is locked out of vocational and technical training.

It has been assumed that it is this group that ignored university placement are those who have decided to join technical courses.
