KUCCPS Undertakes Revision on Eligibility Criteria for Degree Course Applicants

The Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) has undertaken revision on the eligibility criteria for degree course applicants.

KUCCPS revealed that only the 2022 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) will be eligible to apply for degree courses when they open the application portal.

However, candidates who sat for their KCSE examination will only be eligible for courses in Technical and Vocational Education and Training centres (TVETs).

KUCCPS said that candidates were required to apply for the courses during the application period intended for their KCSE year.

In response to questions raised by candidates, KUCCPS said that the portal would be open to all Kenyans once it is open to allow for the submission of applications.

The placement body also revealed that it was planning to open the portal for applications and that the official opening dates for applying for degree and diploma courses would be published on its website in near future.

Last year’s KCSE candidates have not yet made applications for their degree and diploma courses of choice a few weeks after the current Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu announced their KCSE results.

2022 KCSE results were announced on January 20th, 2023 with Machogu directing KUCCPS to start preparations for placement of the KCSE graduates to institutions of higher learning.

On her part, KUCCPS Chief Executive Officer Agnes Wahome said that the process of placing learners in colleges and universities takes some time given the data that universities submitted.

The placement body will reveal the dates when their website will be open for applications for placement through their website (the KUCCPS website) and official social channels in due course.

All that 2022 KCSE candidates can do now is to be patient and wait for things to pan out. Once the portal is open, they will be able to submit applications for placement to institutions and courses of their choice.
