2022 KCSE Students with Grades C+ and above Get University Slots

All the students who scored grades C+ and above in their 2022 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) have secured slots in university.

According to the Kenya Universities and College Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) Chief Executive Officer Dr. Agness Wahome, universities across the country have enough capacity for all of them.

“I know there are a lot of concerns about whether we have enough space for students who qualify to join universities. no student will be locked out, and there should be no cause for alarm,” said Dr. Agness Wahome on Saturday.

The KUCCPS CEO spoke while at Kangaru Boys High School in Embu County during a mentorship conference for youths from the region.

She called on applicants not to fear submitting applications to the universities for the programs that they wish to pursue.

“They should begin submitting their applications because we have the capacity to enroll all those who meet the university entry points. There are many universities where students can enroll in programs that can help them realize their goals.

The KUCCPS CEO warned parents against pressuring their children into enrolling in courses that they do not want to.

In her opinion, young students should be let free to select and pursue the educational paths that they see fit.

Embu Governor Cecily Mbarire revealed that bursaries will be given to deserving students who want to join colleges and institutions.

“In each ward, we are forming a bursary committee. Even children from extremely low-income families should have access to education,” said Governor Mbarire.

Mbarire called on those joining colleges and universities to pursue education seriously in order to have a successful future.

This advice was aimed at male and female students who may be tempted to cohabit and lose focus on the main agenda.

“Male and female candidates should not cohabit when in school, this is time to learn but not cohabit, there is time for everything,” she added.

On his part, the Teachers Service Commission Chairperson Dr. Jamlecj Muturi advised the young people to avoid drug abuse.

“Drugs waste away the young people and should not be used at all,” he said.

Manyatta Member of Parliament Gitonga Mukunji and his Mbeere South counterpart Nephat Muriuki advised the students to embrace technical courses.

“We have technical vocational learning institutions across the country which have plumbing, electrical, and masonry courses. The learners should focus on these courses if they want to excel in life,” said Muriuki.
