Because of the challenges faced in the process of uploading learners’ scores onto LCBE Portal, the Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) has extended the deadline for uploading marks of learners to November 20, 2020.
A fortnight ago, the Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) conducted school-based learning assessments on behalf of the Ministry of Education (MoE) for Grade 4 and Standard 8 under the Kenya GPE COVID-19 Learning Continuity in Basic Education Project.
The main aim of the assessments was to find out whether there are any learning gaps. Students have been stuck at home since the government closed schools in March to mitigate the effects of the COVID – 19 pandemics. After finding out of any learning gaps, KNEC is to come up with appropriate interventions to address the gaps.
Unfortunately, the process of uploading the results hit a snag, as there were challenges that slowed down the process.
Because of the challenges faced in uploading KNEC has now opted to extend the deadline for uploading marks. This was in order to ensure the effective capture of all scores of learners and facilitate reliable reporting.
In a circular released on 11 November 2020, KNEC Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Dr. Mercy Karogo stated that, are to upload the dully filled excel file downloaded from the KNEC system, without recording the scores in real-time.

After uploading successfully, an auto-message is sent to schools informing them that completion of processing is within two (2) weeks.
Mercy Karogo also said that KNEC will give timely feedback to schools in order to ensure candidates are adequately ready for the Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) together with a smooth transition to Grade five.
She said: “Timely is provided to enable schools to adequately prepare their Class 8 learners for examinations, and address learning gaps in the CBC Grade 4 class before they transition to Grade 5.”
The Kenya National Examinations Council thanked all teachers and Headteachers of the significant number of schools that have successfully uploaded scores of the assessment and those who are still uploading the scores.
Schools that might have had challenges in uploading the required data, will attach the duly filled excel file downloaded from the KNEC system, and then send it to KNEC email address lcbe@knec.ac.ke
The file will undergo processing with KNEC and then sent back within two (2) weeks and feedback given.
