Another Student Arrested After attempting to ‘slash’ his Deputy Principal with a Panga

This time in Nyamira County, another student has been arrested after attempting to ‘slash’ his deputy on Wednesday morning.

The incident happened at Mokwerero Secondary School in Kitutu Masaba Constituency.

The student was seized while in the school and was in possession of a machete and a sharpening file. Other teachers rescued their deputy principal from the botched attack.

TSC condemned the incident of attacking its teachers.

“TSC regrets the recent attacks on our teachers by the learners in Kisii and the attempted attack by another student in Mokwerero Sec School in Nyamira County. Let us all Kenyans of goodwill assist in mentoring our children in a positive way,” TSC said through their Twitter handle.

Elsewhere, a form three student at Kisii High School pleaded not guilty of attempted murder charges.

Isaya Flora was arraigned in Court at the Kisii Law Courts before Senior Resident Magistrate Stephen Njoro on Wednesday.

He was charged that he stabbed two teachers on January 12, 2021, within the premises of Kisii High School.

Mr. Edwin Mokaya was injured seriously while Mr. Elvis Maoto survived the attack with minor cuts.

The 17-year-old learner of Kisii High School denied the charges. He was then released on a cash bail of Ksh. 50,000 or a bond of Ksh. 100,000.

The student shall be remanded at Manga Juvenile Home.
