Tambach Boys High School Closed Indefinitely Following Second Student Strike

Tambach Boys Closed Following Second Strike

Tambach Boys High School in Elgeyo Marakwet County has been closed indefinitely after students went on strike, marking the second time the institution has experienced unrest this year.

The protests began late in the evening when students walked out of their dormitories, chanting slogans and expressing dissatisfaction with the school’s management. Police officers from the nearby Iten station were quickly deployed to the compound to restore order and prevent extensive property damage.

Recurring Unrest and Administrative Response

Earlier this term, learners at the same institution staged a protest over alleged high-handedness by the boarding department and poor diet. The recurrence of these issues has raised concerns among local education stakeholders regarding the underlying administrative challenges.

“We have decided to send the boys home immediately to prevent any further destruction of school property as we comprehensively investigate the root cause of these recurrent strikes,” stated a senior official from the County Education office.

Impact on Academic Calendar

The frequent disruptions threaten to severely derail syllabus coverage. This is particularly concerning for Form Four candidates who are preparing for their upcoming Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examinations.

Parents have been summoned to collect their children and are urged to provide counsel during this period of closure. A date for resumption of learning will be communicated once the Board of Management concludes its investigations.
