KNEC Reveals Dates for ECDE Examination
The Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) has revealed dates for trainees who doing their 2021 Early Childhood Development Education (ECDE) Examinations.
This was communicated through a Circular to the County Directors of Education whereby the Council revealed that the examinations will be done between the 30th of November and the 2nd of December 2021.
Rehearsals for the ECDE examinations are were conducted today on Monday the 29th of November 2021.
KNEC will utilize officers from the Ministry of Education and the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) with the Sub-County Director of Education being the coordinator.
Briefing of the personnel who will manage the examinations was done between the 22nd and the 26th of November 2021 in a meeting chaired by the Deputy County Commissioners.
Candidates who got ‘Refers’ in the ECDE examination have been told to register in their former ECDE College to redo the units they failed.
Besides, KNEC also revealed that registration for the 2022 Teachers Education Examination for the Primary Teacher Education (PTE), TCAE, SNE and DTE examinations will be done between the 1st of November and the 31st of December 2021 while the registration of ECDE candidates is scheduled to happen between the 1st of February to the 31st of March next year.
KNEC has had to deal with the submission of wrong data for candidates and presentation of candidates who are not qualified and even the late registration of learners.
The ECDE examination is set to be the last examination being offered under the old curriculum. This is because the government has done away with the previous 8-4-4 system and have ushered in the new Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC). Because of this the ECDE certificate was eliminated and replaced with the new curriculum for Diploma in Early Childhood Education which embraces the CBC.
